A photo frame for Varakļāni — capturing moments and memories
FacebookSmall but distinctive additions to public spaces also help make Varakļāni recognisable. With support from Varakļāni Municipality, Varakļānu attīstībai created a large movable photo frame — a place for residents and visitors to capture moments in town.
A moment in Varakļāni, in one frame
The frame features the Varakļāni brand and the motto “gaišiem būt un varēt”. Social media motifs encourage people to capture and share their visit. The photograph becomes both a personal memory and a way to show Varakļāni to others.
A movable object for public spaces
Designed to be movable, the frame can be used at different locations and events, adapting the public-space feature to each occasion. The project was completed in July 2024.
From an association idea to a practical result
The project was carried out by Varakļānu attīstībai. Support came through Varakļāni Municipality’s rural tourism development project competition, while SIA “LIAN Gaismas reklāmas” manufactured the frame.
This is one of the association’s projects that helps build a sense of place and encourages people to notice and photograph Varakļāni. Alongside digital guides and information solutions, features like this add to the town’s shared story.
The project description draws on the association’s project documents and correspondence with the municipality. The supporter’s historical name, “Varakļāni Municipality”, is retained to reflect the time of the project.
